Niki Charitable Art Foundation

The Niki Charitable Art Foundation was created by Niki de Saint Phalle and became officially active upon her death. It represents the artist’s personal collection of more than 1,000 sculptures and 5,000 graphic works of art. The Foundation maintains the artwork and archives and holds the intellectual property rights for them. The Foundation acts as a link and point of contact for all projects related to Niki de Saint Phalle.

From its collection, the Foundation makes artwork available to museums throughout the world for exhibitions. From 2000 to 2002, Niki gave generous donations both to the Sprengel Museum in Hanover, Germany and to the MAMAC in Nice, France. Collectively, these donations comprise about 500 sculptures and 500 graphic works of art. Niki made these donations, in part, to facilitate the creation of traveling exhibitions to ensure that the public would be able to see her art. The Foundation complemented these donations by lending additional works of art by Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely.

The Niki Charitable Art Foundation owns the copyrights in works by Niki de Saint Phalle and authorizes exhibitions and publications about the artist and her artwork throughout the world. The Foundation seeks to promote and enhance the public’s understanding of Saint Phalle’s artwork, and provides research assistance, authorized restoration of her works, and registration of qualifying works attributed to the artist.
